We’ve had eventful and uneventful days. General Surgery has confirmed they can do a variation of the Gtube so we’re on the waitlist!

They want Maeve to be infection free which has proven difficult. Despite many tests, Maeve is still showing no signs of infection so they’ve bundled under “Infection Negative [infection]”. This basically means they are treating her like she has an infection even though they can’t prove it. So we continue a whack ton of antiobiotics and negotiating with General Surgery to accept Maeve. 

We’ve been moved to a new ward which comes with pros and cons. Pro - we get a private room where I can eat by the bedside (more importantly, I can drink coffee!). Con - parents are highly encouraged to stay with their kid the whole time. 

As a parent flying solo, Dana is home with the other girls, this is terrifying. Hourly nurse checks through the night. Announcements over the speaker and having to console Maeve if she’s woken at an inoppprtune time. And then the expectation to watch her during the day in a room where there is nothing but a TV to distract her.

Luckily, I’ll get some relief this weekend and perhaps into the week if we’re kept here. There’s negotiations as to whether Maeve will go to ICU or observation ward or CHEO after her GTube surgery. 

No date for surgery but at least we’re getting cute pictures and a bit more freedom everyday!
